Here is a photo of an abandoned home in the Jewish quarter of Damascus. What is quite strange is that there was a large Jewish population in Damascus up until the last 15 to 20 years when people where given incentives to leave. Many Jewish people left for USA and eventually Israel. The Syrian Government will not allow these houses of which there are an enormous number in the old city to be taken over by anyone else.
